My name is Gregory Michaels and I am a seventh grader in the Tenafly Middle School. On June 13, 2020, I am becoming a bar mitzvah, which is a very special time in my life.
For my bar mitzvah project, I’m helping JFCS with their Wheels-for-Meals: Ride to Fight Hunger bike ride fundraiser. The annual bike ride on June 14, 2020 will now take place virtually. This event raises money to support all JFCS programs that help fight hunger in northern New Jersey - from their food pantry to their meals on wheels for seniors. I’m getting involved hands-on as well. I have personally spent time stocking the JFCS food pantry. I counted and weighed all the boxes that were delivered and put the items on the right shelves or the refrigerator at the food pantry in Teaneck. I am also delivering meals to families on a weekly basis that are paid for by donations to JFCS.
I am writing to you to ask for your help as well! If you could sponsor the event, donate, and better yet, join us for the bike ride, I would greatly appreciate it. If gatherings are allowed by June 14th, we will be doing a bike ride from our house. Otherwise, you can do the ride anywhere you like and let us know about it. We will have t-shirts for everyone that joins the ride. My family and I have participated in this ride for several years and it’s a lot of fun! Of course it will be different this year, but the JFCS needs our donations more than ever given the impact of coronavirus. By donating and/or participating, you will play a big part in my bar mitzvah project and help feed many kids, adults, and families in NJ.
Please note that there is a discount code which covers the registration fee - this was provided to Gregory's Bar Mitzvah guests in the evite and can be applied at checkout. There is no fundraising obligation on your part as long as you pay the required donation ($130 for adults only) when you register to ride with our team (please ignore the required fundraising goal for youth as it does not apply). Or feel free to make a donation if you can't join the virtual ride.
